A Special Birthday Year

The star that you were born under,

Is growing brighter by the day,

All the time you learn about

What life might send your way,

You learn about the friends who

Used to be,

And the ones who always are,

You learn about how people

Can be on your side one day,

And against you on another,

You learn what your most

Important priorities are,

What makes you happiest of all,

You learn from the people who

Are ten feet tall,

As well as from the ones who

Are only inches in height,

You learn from those who give

To you and bestow you with kindness,

You also learn from the ones,

Who take from you and are

Nothing but small-minded,

And by the time you reach 40,

You are wise beyond your years,

Things get better with every passing day,

There is so much ahead,

So much you will do,

So much more you will grow and learn,

But you will always know,

That no matter what,

You have the most important ingredients,

For you have love, and you give love,

You have faith, you have persistence,

And you will succeed

In all your endeavors,

You will always have what counts the most,

The honesty and integrity,

The will to be an individual,

The person you are,

And because of that

You will always be a star.
